Who controls the data

Funeral home customers are the data controllers for case, family, and decedent information entered into MortisOS. MortisOS acts as the data processor on their behalf. Family users interact with their own funeral home; MortisOS facilitates the interface.

What we collect

Case and decedent details entered by staff, family contact details and messages, documents and signatures attached to a case, scheduling and vendor coordination data, and financial line items / payment status. Account-level data: name, email, role, and assigned locations.

How we use it

To operate the platform: power the case workflow, send notifications, coordinate vendors, surface compliance gates, and provide owner reporting. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use family data for marketing.

Retention

Case data is retained for the period the funeral home requires for compliance and aftercare. Operators can request export or deletion at any time. Audit logs are retained for the same period as the case they describe.

Your choices

Families can request a copy of communications, ask to be removed from outreach lists, or contact their funeral home for corrections. Staff users can update their profile and notification preferences in-app.
